A 50 year old Japanese woman has died after a cat bite her, which is one of the rarest cases in the world. Doctors believe that the cat was infected by tick-borne disease which was transferred to the women.
The Japanese woman was taking care of a stray cat when she become ill and died within one week. She had severe fever because of Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) which is carried by ticks.
How the SFTS transferred into women body remains a mystery but doctors failed to find any spot for potential tick bite. That’s why doctors believe that the sick cat was behind the transfer of the deadly disease.
Previously no animal to human transmission of SFTS was found and this is the first case. Medical teams in Japan are taking the case very seriously to stop any potential epidemic spread in the future.
