The basic Islamic opinion about interaction of man and woman is segregation and separation, whether it is public life or private life man and woman should not freely mix together except some relations and on some occasions.
Similarly the wedding of Rasool Allah (PBUH) also indicates how the gathering for women was held separately and for men it was held separately in another room.
For example in Namaz the segregation was established by Prophet Muhammad who said: “The best row for men is the front row, and the best row for the women is the back row”
But it doesn’t mean that men and women can never be at the same place because it is known that during Umar(Ra) Caliphate the Judge for the market of Madina was a woman. Similarly in Makkah Khabab (RA), who was the companion of Prophet (PBUH), came at Umar (Ra) brother in law house to teach him and his wife the Quran.
Similarly in a state of war, or in hospital women can get treatment from man, but the general rule remains separation.
