Researchers at University of Washington have claimed that Children’s intelligence is inherited more from mother rather than from their father. The research revealed that intelligence is transmitted through X chromosome and women have two chromosomes while men have only one.
But genetics determine only 40% of the intelligence while 60% is dependent on the grooming and environment of the child. This is the reason that many poor children with high IQ and intelligence are unable to succeed in life because their environment and opportunities are limited.
The research also claimed that emotional bond between mother and children is also important, they observed that children whose mothers were emotionally distant from them had 10% smaller hippocampus, which is the centre of emotion and nervous system.
The research was based on observation on mice, where the brain and body of mice were observed after given extra doses of maternal genes.
