WASHINGTON: The US Department of Defense has said that USA is not carrying out any other military operation against Taliban in Afghanistan because it considers Taliban an important partner in efforts of establishing peace in war-torn country.
In a news briefing, the spokesman of Pentagon and the captain of US Navy, Jeff Davis said that US is not carrying out any anti-terrorism operation against Taliban in Afghanistan. He said that we consider Taliban as the main partner in Afghan reconciliation process this is why, they are not being targeted actively.
The spokesman while talking of ISIS, the extremist group active in Syria and Iraq, said that some individual groups want to spread terrorism in Pakistan and Afghanistan by using the name of ISIS however, there is no presence of this group as an organization in the region.
He further said that ISIS has strong grip over Syria and Iraq but those who are claiming to represent ISIS in Pakistan and Afghanistan have no relation with the real ISIS. James Davis said that America is fully supporting Pakistan in the war against terrorism.
He added that America has ended its military operation in Afghanistan last year and now, we are only helping Afghan forces in order to establish peace in the country.
