ABU DHABI: Pakistanis living in UAE could face problem as UAE minister has warned Pakistan on Yemen Issue. Since the Houthi tribes have attacked on Yemen, ousted the democratic president Mansur Hadi and tried to occupy the whole country, Saudi Arabia along with Arab alliance has started air strikes against them and has suggested to form a joint Arab force. Saudi Arabia, soon after the Yemen war started, requested Pakistan to help in Yemen war with Pakistan Army as nobody doubted in the skills and expertise of Pakistan Army.
As Saudi Arabia has always stood with Pakistan in every difficult situation, it wished Pakistan to stand with it against Houthis in Yemen. The Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif stated that Pakistan would always be standing with Saudi Arabia but most politicians in Pakistan opposed to join Yemen war and suggested the federal government and Army to stay away from Yemen’s war and played the role of mediator in solving the Yemen’s issue.
The politicians said if Pakistan joined Yemen war, the sectarian issues could rise in Pakistan due to which the sovereignty of Pakistan would be hurt. Even all the politicians agreed to stand with Saudi Arabia in case any threat to its sovereignty but they suggested that the issue should be brought into parliament before taking any decision whether to join Yemen’s war or not.
Then, the issue was brought to parliament where it was unanimously decided that Pakistan would play the role of mediator and if there felt to be any threat to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan would defend it at any cost. On the other hand, Turkey was also in favor of playing the role of mediator in Yemen’s war and was in contact with Pakistan’s government in this regard.
Since Iran is involved in Yemen’s war, Saudi Arabia is angry and has wished strongly for Pakistan’s support in Yemen’s war. But, Pakistan has not answered clearly in this regard because of Pakistani politicians whereas Pakistan and Turkey are trying to solve Yemen issue through talks. Recently, UAE minister Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash has chosen strong words for Pakistan because Pakistan didn’t answer clearly to join Arab forces.
Analysts in this situation have said if UAE and Saudi Arabia got angry with Pakistan, the Pakistanis living and doing jobs in those countries could face problem whereas the door of new jobs opening could be closed for Pakistanis due to which financial issue could surround Pakistan and that would be a shock for Pakistan’s economy. Hence, Pakistan should stand with Saudi Arabia because Iran would never stand with Pakistan but Saudi Arabia and gulf countries.
