ISLAMABAD: The opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah has made a phone call to the prime minister of Pakistan Mr Nawaz Sharif today. According to sources, Khursheed Shad and Nawaz Sharif exchanged their thoughts about the appointment of chief election commissioner on the phone.
Syed Khursheed Shah made his stance on the appointment of chief election commissioner and court’s directions that the appointment of chief election commissioner should be made after electoral reforms whereas Supreme Court’s judge should not necessarily be the chief election commissioner.
Khursheed Shah added that any of good politicians or bureaucrats can be appointed as the chief election commissioner of Pakistan. He further said that he would submit his reply in Supreme Court of Pakistan as an opposition leader.
On the other hand, the hearing of the case praying for the Prime Minister’s disqualification is being continued in Supreme Court. A three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Jawwad Khwaja is hearing the case.
At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Jawwad S. Khwaja said that the research staff of Supreme Court tried to get the written text of the speech but it was not available. He said we would be provided the official text of the premier’s speech.
