The thought of Gola Ganda instantly brings water to your mouth. In summers, Gola ganda is enough to beat of the heat. It’s a mixture of crushed ice and various other juicy flavours poured over it making it a colourful mouth watering treat. Gola Ganda is a speciality of the Dhoraji food street. This street is also known for its other food items as well such as, Bhajiya, Khatta Aaloo, and Bhatatay etc.
The Gola Ganda is famous among the people of Karachi but, Dhoraji’s Gola Ganda is the best. This street is situated in front of Aga Khan Hospital, where you will find 25 to 30 Gola Ganda stalls lined up on the street. Each selling Gola Ganda with their own speciality. The prices of Gola ganda vary according to the various flavours added to it. The cheapest Gola Ganda may be of 50 rupees while the most expensive will be of 150 rupees.
This area is visited by many people in Karachi for its famous Gola Ganda, but the street has been given less attention with respect to its hygiene. The street is seldom cleaned and rubbish is found lying around giving is a dismal look. Some just pass by changing their minds about devouring a Gola Ganda. Eating places should specially be cleaned or it will lose its attraction.
