Lahore: Senior analyst and chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board have not yet given up his criticism on ISI. While talking on a private channel, Sethi said that the organization ISI was established to handle external affairs, but gradually its role was getting suspicious and its role was getting more internal. He said that the current government will also not ready to give up the two criminals involved in the Imran Farooqi murder case, to the British government.
Sethi was arguing his stance on the ISI on geo news talk show, ‘Apas Ki Baat’. He said that India didn’t have an organization like the ISI and nobody talks about RAW, as this agency is responsible for 90% of the external cases. He said ISI was also established to look after external affairs, but its role has gradually become more internal. He said that army needed intelligence support during the Marshall Law. Instead of strengthening the IB, the agency was used.
General Zia had given importance to the armed forces in the late 80s. RAW has never been involved in the matters of the armed forces, but ISI was involved in Afghanistan in the same manner as was CIA and MI6. He said that the Pakistani government was under pressure with respect to the Imran Farooqi case and that the interior minister Choudhry Nisar Ali was also under pressure in this regard. The matter could not be left unresolved under the British law and that Choudhry Nisar needed to either provide DNA tests or to give them access to the criminals.
The government was cautiously approaching this matter as haste in this matter could result in MQM joining forces with Tahir-ul-Qadri.
