Karachi: The Education department, Government of Sindh, introduced the system of Centralized Admission Policy (CAP) for giving admissions to students in colleges and higher secondary school of Karachi. The main goal of the CAP policy was to provide an equal opportunity for all the students to apply for admissions in the college of their choice based on merit. Students who have passed their SSC/Technical board/GCE (O’Levels) or its equivalent examination 2013 are eligible applicants.
The students will have to fill a form that is available at various banks. The students passing their GCE (O’Levels) examination must have passed the compulsory subjects of English, Urdu, Islamiat, Pakistan studies and four optional subjects.
They will need to submit an equivalence certificate from I.B.C.C Islamabad. The merit of the students passing through the GCE (O’Level) will be calculated according to the following formula;
Grade A*=95, A=85, B=75, C=65, D=55, E=45
The equivalence will be calculated by multiplying the mean value of all the valid grades by 8.5.
Similarly, a formula will also be used to calculate the marks for the Technical Board:
Evaluation Marks= (Marks obtained)-(Marks obtained in Component III)
Students passing their exams from other boards besides the Karachi board will have their marks evaluated according to the following formula:
(Marks obtained x 850)/Total Marks
Students can enter the colleges according to their preferences, while the CAP policy will allocate the students seats in their respective colleges according to their merit and preferences. The list of colleges according to their closing marks have been listed that will give the students an idea about the college that would suit their merit.
