Karachi: With the commencement of year 2014, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been approached by the centrally contract based players to increasing their pays by 30 to 35 percent. However, the board would be soon announcing list of the contract based players for the following year.
Misbah-ul-Haq the captain and senior players met the PCB interim Chairman Najam Sethi. They presented their say to the Chief, says one of the board officials. Misbah on behalf of other players spoke; they seek increase in their salaries. There had been considerable increase in pay by the boards in other countries but the local board has not presented any stance in the regard, he said.
Increase by 30 to 35 percent is sought by the players, say the insider source. Despite the hikes in the pays as observed in the last two years, the PCB Chief agreed to fulfill the demand of the centrally contract based players. PCB shall soon be announcing names of the selected contract based players, as the body has already been asked to prepare the list.
Presently, the category ‘A’ players at highest ranking are paid Rs 3, 25,000 monthly. Around 10 -15 percent, pay hikes was observed last year for Tests, ODI and T20 matches by board.
