Islamabad: The US led NATO forces in Afghanistan had been facing shortage of diapers reported several of the local newspapers, when the NATO supplies were blocked by Pakistan. The news story, reported by one of the Urdu newspapers called much attention. Eventually it took to the social websites and blogs to engage in never ending comments and fun over the U.S. armed forces.
It was said that the U.S. forces in Afghanistan faced shortage diaper supply when Pakistan blocked the NATO supply in the past. The news item was however denied by the U.S. embassy a day after one of the local reputable newspaper published it. Recently PTI is again planning for blocking NATO supplies therefore this Diapers story has been widely spreading on social media again.
Mark Stroh, US embassy spokesman said that he had talked with Isaf Deputy in Afghanistan PAO Col Gary Kolb. ‘There is no truth. The US forces do not wear diapers while fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan’. He stated that the diapers wearing details are unknown to any of the armed forces officials.
That time when this story broke out, Dr. Shireen Mazari, CEO of Strategy and Technology Resources (STR) & also a spokesperson of PTI on national and foreign affairs, said that Pakistani people shall try to purchase the diapers locally and send them to Afghanistan for the U.S. forces. In a sarcastic manner she said that America has done much to the Pakistanis, from engaging the country in Coalition Support Fund to engaging in war against terrorism, torturing and captivating Pakistani Muslims across the globe.
She concluded stating in the press release that on humanitarian ground US has stood with Pakistan in harsh times. Hence, we shall also look forward to helping the men. Kind help can in turn provide the country with U.S. aid!
