Karachi: Radio Pakistan, formerly known as Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) celebrates its 75 anniversary today. An event had been organized by the organization to celebrate the day. Various singers and prominent personalities from different fields attended the event.
The event began with the singing of the emerging young talented singer Sara Raza Khan, who sung one of the melodious song of the legendary Malka-e-Tarannum Noor Jahan. Nadeem Abbas and other singers also sung various Pakistani songs including Bismillah Karan, which is one of the famousĀ songs these days.The singing event highlighted the services of Radio Pakistan while the attendees enjoyed the dinner being facilitated by the radio programming industry.
Radio Pakistan came as Pakistan Broadcasting Service on 14 August 1947 when Pakistan emerged on the world map as a new country. Initially it possessed three radio stations at Dhaka, Lahore and Peshawar. It is the oldest electronic media that our country has. Radio Pakistan is a public broadcasting network as well as mass media state-owned mega corporation. PBC provides a wide range of radio and news services which are broadcast in TV, internet, and radio, outside Pakistan in 10 different languages. Its fm stations are also based golbally, operating in Canada and other countries.
Its day-to-day operations are supported by International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB). It informs, educate and disseminate the country’s cultural, social, political and economic set up locally and internationally. Its headquarters are based in Karachi and presently it operates in all the provinces of the country.
