Multan: Former MNA Atta Muammad Qureshi after protracted illness breathed his last and died. His funeral would be held today. He expired at Nishter hospital. Mr. Atta was among the early founders of Pakistan People Party (PPP).
From year 1970-1977 he was charged with various positions. During Zia-Ul-Haq’s regime he was arrested. In the year 1985′ he won the non jamiati election in favor of the provincial assembly and joined Pakistan Muslim League (PML). He had also remained member of the district council at Muzaffargarh.
While the PPP lost its another re-known leader in the Washington district of USA who also died on the same day after remaining ill for a short period. According to the media reports, Iftikhar Ahmed Zaidi was under treatment at the at a local hospital at Washington , where he died yesterday.
His dead body would be brought to Lahore from America . Afterwards, he would be buried in his ancestral area, Alipur Chatta. He was taken as captive during Zia-ul-Haq’s ruling time. In 1988, when PPP got into power, he was freed and made the adviser.
