Dubai: The Information Minister of Egypt is enormously under fire and facing strict opposition over his indecent comment, describing a female Dubai TV news host as ‘hot’. The outrageous comment came during an interview last week, the New York Daily News reported on Tuesday.
The Islamist politician, minister and a journalist, Salah Abdul Maqsud affiliated from Muslim Brotherhood, the ruling party under the leadership of Mohammad Morsi, told the female host, “I hope your questions won’t be as hot as you.”
The comment sparked an outrage and controversy in a country already rocked by political anarchy.
However, the host, Zeina Yazjy, replied instantly without raising her eyebrows: “my questions are hot, but I am cold.”
The comments came during the Dubai TV show al-Sharea al-Arabi (The Arab Street), where they touched on the public opinion towards the Muslim Brotherhood policies, especially on mass media.
Hundreds of Egyptians condemned the statement came from their politician and termed it as “inappropriate” and “out of place.”
