Islamabad: Member National Assembly PML-N Malik Jamil Awan became on Tuesday another casualty of the action being taken by the Supreme Court against the assembly members holding dual nationality as the SC suspended his membership while hearing the dual nationality case.
The court suspended the membership of Malik Jamil affiliated from Pakistan Muslim League (N) for his Dutch nationality.
The apex court observed that it will not discriminate against anyone. “We disqualified Rehman Malik and we will make sure not to discriminate against Malik Jamil,” CJ said.
“While reviewing the files last night I thought why Malik Jamil has not been disqualified yet, as he himself has admitted his citizenship of Holland,” pronounced Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who heads a three-judge bench hearing a case relating to parliamentarians holding dual nationality.
