Lahore: Jamaat e Islami Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, has counseled the rulers and the military high ups to review their strategy regarding the war on terror after the Air Chief Marshal’s statement in Dubai that there had been only ten pr cent success in the air strikes in the tribal areas and that the solution lay in dialogue. He was reacting to the Air Chief Rao Qamar Suleman ‘s statement at the Air Chief Marshals Conference that the Pak Air Force had made 3300 air strike in the tribal areas and dropped 10,600 bombs, but had realized only ten per cent targets, and that the solution lay only in dialogue. This was plain acceptance of failure, he added.
Liaqat Baloch said that from the very first day, the JI had been saying that the brute use of force in tribal areas won’t help and would create hatreds and that the path of dialogue should be adopted. He said that the military leadership including Pervez Musharraf and Gen. Kayani were answerable to the nation about the massive bombardment in the tribal areas.
He said that as the Army Chief and the Air chief had understood the writing on the wall, they should abandon blind following of the US dictation. The resolution of the parliament should be acted upon and the foreign and the domestic policies of the country should be revised with a view to restoring the sovereignty of the country.
