People complain that vegetables and fruits doesn’t remain fresh for a long time in refrigerator, but there are some easy steps through which vegetables and fruits can be kept fresh. These six tips will make your fruits and vegetables fresh and good for a longer period:
- Keep your fridge clean because if you do not clean your fridge regularly then bacteria or mold spores will spoil your fruits or vegetables when stored in fridge.
- Some vegetables and fruits emit ethylene gas and it makes other fruits and vegetables, which are ethylene sensitive, ripen and spoil faster. To solve this problem you should store them separately or better use ethylene gas absorber.
- Potatoes, onions and tomatoes should not be stored in fridge because it ruins the flavor. Though they may spoil faster in open, cool and dry place but at least the taste will be the best.
- Place leafy greens and herbs in water and cover the top with plastic cover and keep them in fridge or you should keep them in bags filled with air and then seal them tightly.
- Do not wash berries until you are eating the, washing them fasten the spoiling.
- If any fruit or vegetable is rotten remove it before it spoils others.
