Pakistan is still in the phase of setting of 4G telecom networks, while the world has begin to explore the possibility of the existence of a 5G telecom network. Sources quote that China is already exploring the possibility of a 5G network that will integrate the virtual and the real experience. According to the Chinese company, Huawei wireless network, the 2G, 3G and 4G networks seek to serve the telecom sector, while the 5G service will integrate the networks. Research and development into this field has been launched by South Korea, European Union and Japan. The 5G is expected to take networking to a new level, where internet if things (IoT) technology, specifically autopilot, ultra high definition video, smart phones and health care services.
China has already gained over 43 million users through its 4G LTE (Long Tem Evolution) and is expected to go over 70 million users. After its breakthrough performance in 4G LTE, China is moving forward to 5G and aims to introduce this service by 2020. The 5G mobile networking is also known as Tactile Internet and it represents the next major phase of mobile telecommunication standards, to bypass those of 4G IMT advanced standards. The 5G is supposed to give data rates of several tens of MBs that will support tens of thousands of users. It is supposed to offers 1GB to tens of workers on the same office floor and will have the capacity to give 100,000 simultaneous connections for massive sensor deployments.
Pakistan has just stepped into the 4G phase and is still groping to strengthen its position. The 4G phase needs to be perfected before going on towards the 5G stage. Experts believe that Pakistan will be able to move towards 5G in the next 5 to 6 years. These are pretty optimistic predictions, but let’s hope that Pakistan is able to keep at par with the rest of the world and the nations are able to benefit from these services.
