Islamabad: The Senate body deferring to the decision taken by the law body in relation to the judgment in veteran journalist Orya Maqbool Jan’s case, have expressed likeliness of as many as 521 BS-20 and 21 officers to revert back to their previous positions.
Capital Administration and Development (CAAD) and cabinet secretariat of the governing entity expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of law practicing bodies and officials to interpret the Orya Maqbool Jan case as judged by the Supreme Court(SC).
Promotion of around 601 officers was dictated by the Central Promotion Board (CPB) of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) Group. It was decided in a meeting early this year, in the month of February.
The PAS member, Orya was not considered by the board for the promotion. His performance in the year 2011 was termed unsatisfactory to earn him progress. Hence, he field petition in the Supreme Court in relation to the issue of political promotion. Being on No 57 of the seniority list, Orya opined to be given the honor.
The BS-20 listed member sought to get promoted to BS-21. After his application, the establishment division decided to cancel the promotion of all the officers falling in BS-20 and BS-21 categories. The decision is applicable to all the 601 promotion cases.
