Have you ever thought why there are 24 hours in clock? The answer lies in Ancient Egyptian Civilization, they were the first to divide the day & night in 24 hours.
The measured the day with shadows into 10 hours and then added one hour before the shadows started to appear and another after the end of the shadow making it 12 hours. The time of night was measured through stars, which was also based on 12 hours, making a day of 24 hours.
The division of hours into 60 minutes came from ancient Babylonians who used numbers on the base 60, they were also behind the 360 degrees of a circle.
Later civilizations came and enhanced the time system, making new clocks and better ways to calculate time.
It’s a wonder that how Egyptians without any knowledge of rotation of earth on its axis correctly divided the day into 24 hours.
