Diabetes Federation has shown concerns that in the last two decades diabetic patients have increased from 30 million to 230 million. Some 350 million people could be affected by the disease in the next 20 years if nothing is done to curb a possible.
China is on top of the list with most number of diabetic patients while India is second on the list. In Pakistan it was announced that 2,000 diabetics lose their feet in Pakistan due to gangrene and other complications annually; this was disclosed at an awareness-raising programme organised under the support of Al-Mustafa Welfare Society in January 2010.
