Karachi: As many as 17 Pakistani, belonging from Kurram Agency and Quetta, passes away in a deadly boat sinking incident in a sea near Australia, local newspaper reported Wednesday.
According to the details, the boat carried around 200 Pakistani immigrants, moving from Indonesia to Australia. The incident took place near Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean.
The media reports say that 217 illegal immigrants were relocating themselves from Indonesia to Australia, out of which 152 belonged to Parachinar, Kurram Agency and Quetta. It is being said that due to the overload, the ship sank 100 kilometers away from the Indonesian Island.
Meanwhile, Australian Maritime Safety Authority said that about 110 people have been rescued while the dead bodies would be sent to Pakistan tomorrow.
