Islamabad: A 13- episode musical drama depicted on a true love story, shot on the locations where Heer and Ranjha actually lived will now be aired on a Pakistani TV channel from June, produced by a renowned National artist Farhan Agha.
It is a story of beautiful woman Heer and her lover Ranjha. Heer who was born in Jhang, a city of Punjab fells in love with Ranjha, the youngest of his four brothers lived in the village Takht Hazara. They both wanted to marry but opposed by others and a jealous uncle poisons Heer’s food. Ranjha eats the same food and both of them die.
Ahsan Khan is acting Ranjha, Zaaria plays Heer, Mohsin Gillani is Heer`s father, Saba Faisal would be Heer`s mother and Shafqat Cheema is playing the villain role of uncle Kaedo.
The story originally written by Waris Shah in 1767 is now re-written for the musical drama in a new version by Ahmad Aqeel Rubby. Shahid Zahoor is the director and Mian Yousaf Salahuddin is the music composer of the drama.
In an interview to an Independent newspaper, the writer said the shooting of the serial is going on at the original locations such as Jhang, Jauharabad, Rangpur and Takht Hazara. Rubby said that the story is written in the shape of a play not the movie.
The serial will commence by June on Pakistan Television. Each episode would be 45-minute long and two songs would be played in every episode.
